Chapter 4 sees Leeds start to make their make on the English game with a first appearance in the 1964/65 FA Cup Final, although ultimately losing 2-1 to Liverpool. The lead up and the tournament in 1966 dominate Chapter 5, with an excellent interview with the Three Lions right-back of the time, George Cohen, providing a great inside view of the England set-up and Cocker’s contribution during that historic time. His rising reputation attracted the FA’s attention, and Cocker helped the England team achieve their pinnacle success in 1966. Despite the England team winning the competition, Cocker was not awarded a medal, and a posthumous campaign for Cocker to be awarded one was launched by his family in February 2008.This image not only celebrates their pursuit of excellence but also pays homage to individuals like Les Cocker who played an integral role in shaping young talents into formidable athletes. He left Leeds in 1974 to become full-time Assistant Manager to Don Revie with the English national team however when Revie left in 1977 to become manager of the United Arab Emirates national team, he went with him as his assistant. April 1974 saw Sir Alf Ramsey sacked, prompting all the backroom staff including Cocker stating they would resign in a show of loyalty to the ex-England boss.

July 1974, Don Revie leaves Leeds United to take over the England job from the sacked Sir Alf Ramsey. His football career continued from 1953 to 1958 at Accrington Stanley and it was from here that he retired as a player.
