NME reviewer Tim Chester declared Live and Dangerous "the best live album we ever heard" despite the alleged overdubs, which he dismissed as irrelevant. The band decided to release a live album after their producer Tony Visconti did not have enough time to work on a full studio session. The twin guitar attack of Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham, the rhythmic prowess of Brian Downey, and the lyrical genius of Phil Lynott make Thin Lizzy a band to treasure. The super deluxe edition of Live And Dangerous finally puts to bed the myth that the album was extensively overdubbed in the studio and proves that Thin Lizzy was not only at the top of their game night after night but was one of the best live bands of the 1970s.
