While this is not an aspect I take enough advantage of these days, I have spent many long summer afternoons building cabins, tepees, and lean-tos. I have lived in forested areas my entire life (a large chunk of my life even in a literal hand-built log cabin, and currently on the edge of an actual United States National Forest) and have always heard the term rural used to describe such areas. One such instance is the ability for fire and rescue to reach you in a timely fashion, regardless of weather conditions.

Don’t get me wrong – you still have wind that will whistle through the trees – but at the same time the forest actually will protect you from harsh winds.
