About this deal

There is low dispersion ED glass in objective lenses, prisms are dielectric and phase corrected, and all air-to-glass surfaces are supposed to be multi-coated. It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. The optical glass that Bresser use in these is coated with an anti-reflective coating for a brighter and better quality image than what you get on the many imitation kids binoculars that don't have any coatings and which are now available. Operating out of their headquarters in Germany, but with distribution centers all over Europe and in the USA, Bresser Optics design, build, and sell telescopes, spotting scopes, microscopes, and niche electronics and are one of the leading suppliers of optical instruments all over Europe and the rest of the world. Having several hundred tests of binoculars under my belt, I know what will be the tone of my review as soon as I look through the new instrument for the first time.

Bresser are so confident that these optics can handle what you children can throw at them that they come with a five year guarantee! The one mechanical area I found “acceptable” but not very good or excellent was the rotating eyecup feel.I could see the striping on a Meadow pipits chest, the contrast between the darker heads and lighter chest of the Bean gees, it was all non of a problem. On the other hand some may consider either the eyecup design or the metal colored retaining ring a quality control issue. The Bresser Condor 10x42 binocular is Waterproof, Fogproof, has quality BaK-4 prisms and is fully multi coated.

Since reds and browns are very well represented in this binocular other colors at different areas of the light spectrum don’t seem quite as vibrant. The compact roof prism binoculars feature a 42 mm lens that lets in sufficient light, allowing you to carry on observing until twilight. Worth noting here is that as well as a good quality microfiber cleaning cloth, Bresser also includes an excellent cleaning pen that is very similar to the Carson Optical C6 Lens Cleaners that I use on all my optics which saves you from needing to get an extra lens cleaning kit.

While discussing the new Celestron M2 Regal spotting scope over in the spotting scope forum I noted a new poster, Optics Camp, who is a fairly local dealer for Celestron. My estimation as to the size of the sweet spot with this model would be between 65-70% of the field of view.

Both are slightly more apparent in the Bresser though they aren't anywhere near the degree of memory of the Bushnell Legend Ultra. For me it is that but it is also the excellent apparent sharpness and CA control within the sweet spot. The quality also extends to the accessories as all models come supplied with a real leather bag as standard.I've been getting more and more interested in Bresser binoculars (I have a small Bresser microscope, actually a magnifying glass. The large focus wheel ensures quick and accurate focussing and the high eye relief eyepieces, combined with twist up rubber eyecups make sure you get the full field of view with the Lux binocular even if you wear glasses. Close focus, at 2m, is really pretty good without being anything exceptional, but again it will be more than enough for most needs – certainly, I found it fine while doing a bit of dragonfly-watching, as the birds drowsed out of sight in the midday heat.

This example was better and 'with' diopter adjustment but wasn't as sharp as the first and it didn't take long before the diopter started to drift away. Metal eye-piece housings and eyecups that are tough with an excellent twist up/down mechanism and more than 17mm of eye-relief. The BRESSER S-Series 8x42 is a roof prism binocular with a magnification of 8x and an optical aperture of 42mm.They have Bk-7 prisms and has a fully coated optical system that delivers crisp, colorful images to the eyepieces. Like most binoculars I think it would be more appealing if this was removed and placed on the faceplate of the focusing knob. Since everyone’s eyes are different, diopter compensation allows you to adjust the focus to suit yours. All models are waterproof, have rugged roof prisms, twist-up eyecups, diopter compensation, and are made with BK4 barium-crown glass that is fully multi-coated. For one, there is what appears to be a retention ring behind the objective cell which is not painted black.
