About this deal

As you can probably gather from the details of what we thought of the products above, there are a few key things to keep in mind when looking for and buying wheelie bin screens. Don’t worry though, we’ve got them covered below. Type of screen Pallet wood is an excellent material to use if you choose to create wheelie bin storage yourself, as it’s cheap, environmentally friendly, and waterproof – it won’t warp and bend so long as it’s been treated! You could fix pallet wood planks to a metal frame, like below, or secure pallets together as they are to create a rustic-looking bin storage solution. Now you know how we made our choices, let's get down to it. Which bin covers or screens should you be looking at? Here are our top options! The Best Wheelie Bin Screens and Vinyl Covers

Plants in containers can be positioned beside your bins. Obviously tall specimens will do the best job, as will climbers on a conical frame or trellis. Or how about a tall container, with a tall plant or even a small tree? The eye will be drawn to the flowers, fruits and foliage, not the grey plastic behind. cultivate climbers. It’s easy to hide your bins behind a neat, well-manicured hedge. Laurel, privet, and yew hedging are the best choices for bin stores because they’re low maintenance, so they won’t take up much of your time throughout the year. Top tip: ensure you choose an evergreen hedge; otherwise, you’ll be able to see your bins for half the year!It doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy and feels like its high quality, which is really important for wheelie bin screens since they’re going to be outside and, well frankly, next to your bins. It needs to be able to withstand quite a bit of dirt and mess, as well as not become ruined or dirty too easily when the bin gets a bit too full. Best For: Those on a budget, or those looking to just make a small change to make their bins a little more attractive. What Do I Need to Think About Before Buying? Making sure the hook sides of the panels are on the outside; they can be latched on and secured until the bins are required for usage. Complete with the bin screens are 2 x 60cm s 180cm expanding willow trellises which can be used to complete the screening of waste storage area

If heavy duty is your style, metal is a clear winner. It is the pinnacle of weather-resistant, durability, and strength – it beats all other materials in this area. So, if these are your priority, metal is a clear choice. However, some downsides of metal wheelie bin stores are they’re typically expensive, very weighty, and will only suit some garden designs. They may also rust if a rustproof coating hasn’t been applied, so look out for this when buying! Planning regulations force many homes to have a shorter fence at the front of their house, so even using a solid fence panel that allows no line of sight through the panel would probably not work for hiding standard height wheelie bins. If you have a wall at the front of your house and have permission to increase the height to provide more screening, slatted fence panels are a great option as they still allow light into the house. Our Jakpost® foot allows you to install fencing onto existing hard surfaces with ease. If you want to know how to increase the height of an existing boundary you can read our blog here. Hiding bins with a wheelie bin store You’re most likely going to come across either a wooden screen or plastic screen, both of which have their pros and cons. Wood is great and it looks far more natural than plastic, so it really brings an authentic feel to the garden. However, it might be more vulnerable to weather than plastic, so it may not last you as long.

Smart Garden 60cm x 180cm Expanding Solar Pre Lit Ivy Leaf Trellis Bin Screen (Best trellising option)

Personally I’m a massive fan of the wood effect in my garden as it really does make things look more natural, but for how light weight it is and its material, it’s really strong and I don’t worry about it falling over or standing. It’s really versatile and is a pleasure to put up, and I’ve had no issues with it so far. The only thing that concerned me was maybe how it will last in harsh weather or when it gets dirty, but since its natural material unlike most other screens, it should be fine. After a closer look I also realised I could just apply a wood preserver, and because it’s wooden, a couple of screws into the wall were dead easy to secure it even more. This might not have been necessary at all and I’m sure it will last absolutely fine, but it just gave me that piece of mind. Louvre is a slatted fence panels that has wider, timber slats that are angled downwards to prevent anyone seeing through panel. A line of sight can only be seen from below at an upward angle meaning it is a very good panel for hiding unsightly bins and other garden objects.

This is definitely one of the most flexible options on this list, and it's also a very affordable one. This trellis screen doesn't need to be anchored (though it can be). It can be moved easily, or if you prefer, you can simply leave it in place and use it as support for plants whilst it still covers your bins. Lattice trellis panels are made up of small squares which distort the line of sight to what is behind the panel. Great for screening, the square design makes it easier to break up the shape and disguise bulkier objects behind.

The screening is made from 3 separate panels that are connected by easy to attach hinges on the metal frame. When together, the screen measures 115cm high by 81cm wide and 64cm deep. The hinged side panels can be opened easily to access the bin when it is time for the refuse to be collected, and just as easy to close afterwards. While concocting your wheelie bin storage ideas, consider your recycle boxes (if you have any!). These aren’t exciting to look at, either, so you may choose to incorporate recycling bin shelving in your bin storage design. If you decide to build your bin storage yourself, ensure you use treated timber – most bin stores are made from FSC timber because it’s responsibly sourced.
