About this deal

Powertec has designed the Workbench Multi-System for use in homes and in light commercial settings. Unlike many of the home gym brands we've covered, Powertec doesn’t specify a maximum user weight for this whole body system, but it easily will be toward the upper end of the scale. I kind of go against the grain when it comes to Titan; at least among my fellow reviewers. I believe that anyone who can put a pair of 45’s on a bar (regardless of the lift) should steer clear of Titan products; which I think covers just about everyone. They are cheap, poorly constructed, and even dangerous products in many cases. I’m personally afraid of their J-cups, their safeties, and really anything with welds to be honest. Some people will tell you that only a couple of people so far have had their J-cups snap in two or a weld shatter, but I don’t want to be the guy that happens to and I definitely don’t want it to happen to any of my friends or family who use my gym. It’s just not worth the savings. TheLeverGym Advantage: Lever arms implemented within the design of this multi-gym drive the exercises, while the special weight plates are loaded directly onto the lever. This functionality 9 simply replaces the barbell. Maintenance-Free: There are no cables or pulleys included in this product, meaning you won't have to worry about rusting and constant need for lubrication of working parts. Simply assemble it once, and you're ready to go!

The new bench does appear to use the same silly adjustment pins though, and the pad and handles look identical as well. Also, the downside of that extra stability is that the front feet of the bench are going to be precisely where your feet are going to be when pressing. The previous generation of the Powertec Adjustable Bench. The good news is that you only have to avoid this version if you’re shopping the used market (which you probably should be.) The tower portion of the WB-LS is a pretty solid piece of equipment. It comprises about 2/3 of the total WB-LS price, offers a ton of variety in terms of exercises that can be performed, takes up very little square footage in your gym, and it has a longer list of pros than cons. Are you talking about the accessories? Or are you referring to other machines like the WorkBench? like the Body Solid Corner thing? The unit does come with adjustment chains and multiple attachments. They are pretty basic, but they work.

The arms on the lever gym equate to 20 lbs. lifted. (10 lbs. each arm). The weight reduction due to the leverage is 20% of the total load plus the weight of the arms. For example - with 200 lbs. added to the Leverarms, you would minus 20% for the Leverarm weight distribution (160 lbs.) plus the weight of the arms (20lbs.). Therefore, 200 lbs. of weight would equate to a total 180 lbs. of perceived weight lifted.

We would like to point out the best features of this particular model, which would be the attractive appearance, excellent build quality (most of their training machines are finished with a solid powder coat for enhanced durability), and careful safety measures. For all the features it has to offer, the price is very much affordable and holds great value for the money you spend. The pulley system can handle up to 300-pounds total. It’s not jaw-dropping high, but it should be adequate for the vast majority of lifters. The bench is only remotely stable when attached to the WorkBench frame, but leaving it attached makes lining the bench under the pressing handles impossible. You’ll either line up properly under the handles for pressing, or you won’t. I do not. The bench is not stable enough when unattached from the unit for heavy pressing so I just don’t use it at all. To summarise, besides being top coffee-break talk with your colleagues, owning a multi-gym will offer the following benefits:

I appreciate the update on that newer bench, William. I’m certainly glad to hear that it’s improved because that old bench really was a nightmare of a product, and I really do like a lot of what Powertec does. Generally, multi gyms have gained increased attention and popularity due to people's desire to access workouts more. Many people have noticed their suitability for home gyms too-because of course, they combine all potential home-gym fixtures (treadmills, cross-trainers, rowing machines, benches), into one machine- you save a lot of space, and you achieve the same goals. This is a review of the Powertec WorkBench Levergym System; a multi-use, plate-loaded gym station designed to give a home gym owner with limited floor space and limited funds access to a large variety of machine-based resistance exercises. It features both a low and high pulley system, adjustable pressing arms, and an adjustable, detachable bench. Other accessories that allow you to expand the unit even further are also available. The pins used for making adjustments are garbage. They take a lot of effort to use, and they are prone to jamming and just outright breaking. Why Powertec just didn’t use the same spring-loaded pull pin that you’d find on any other equipment is beyond me.With a vivid, staggeringly bright yellow accent hue, this multi-gym is sure to make a statement in any location it is placed in. It doesn't look too clunky or industrial, and it allows you to access a wide range of possible workouts. Starting Weight: Press Arms (20 lbs), Lateral Lever (0 lbs), Crunches (15 lbs), Squat Lever Arms (35 lbs) Low rows are very smooth on the Powertec, but they do need to be done from the floor rather than on a bench. In the image, he dumbbells are for my feet; otherwise I’m too close to the machine for any real ROM.

The bench includes the front tube adaptor that accepts all modular Powertec Workbench Attachments. True Weight Lifted on Leverarms: Please note that this model features our newer J-Hooks, compared with ones shown within the videos. All functions and features remain the same. The Powertec adjustable bench that I have is no good for pressing at my height, but a standard bench cannot be pushed close enough to the machine to work well either. Either way I go I have to flare my shoulders, so I just don’t. Tower Summary The pressing arms can also be fairly useful if you’re fortunate enough to have a bench that allows you to line up properly under the handles. I’ve had major issue with this myself, and I own no less than five benches at the moment. The 2016 version of the WorkBench has iso-lateral pressing arm function, which is a very nice touch, but you still need to be able to line up properly to use those arms safely (with good form.) If you’re of average height you likely won’t have too many issues (see a theme? This thing hates tall people). Both pulleys are super smooth, and exercise variety is limited only by the number of attachments you have.All-in-all, I think Powertec is just unorganized and behind the times. I recommend that you buy new Powertec equipment from a third-party vendor and only deal with Powertec directly when you need a specific part. By doing so you’ll not only avoid potential customer service issues, but you’ll also save as much as 15% on the cost of the equipment. There’s nothing small about the Powertec Workbench Multi-System. Among the many home gyms we've reviewed over the years, this one has both the largest base footprint and enables you to lift the most weight.
