About this deal

Taking 250 mg of DHA a day contributes to brain and eye health, whilst a daily intake of 250 mg of EPA and DHA supports cardio health. If you experience side effects from fish oil supplements, such as nausea or acid reflux, you may find the supplement easier to tolerate by splitting it into two smaller doses throughout the day.

The health benefits of these essential fatty acids have been scientifically proven in many studies. WHC’s UnoCardio® supplements contain 90-95% Omega-3 and therefore provide the required Omega-3 in a single softgel, which is equivalent to 3-10 softgels of standard fish oil.One 2023 study found that higher blood levels of CoQ10 could be linked to improved cognitive function. Meanwhile, a 12-month study involving older adults showed that vitamin D supplementation could enhance brain function by reducing oxidative stress. Is there a difference between omega-3 and fish oil?

Decades of research studies converge on the findings that omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) provide important benefits for cellular and metabolic health throughout the lifespan. 1,2 Upon learning of these benefits, one of the first things people want to know is, how much EPA and DHA should I take to meet my daily needs? While this may seem like a simple question, because several factors contribute to an individual’s omega-3 status, the answer can be quite complicated. Quality assessment of the included RCTs was conducted using the Cochrane Collaboration’s risk of bias tool [ 31] which includes the evaluation of selection, performance, detection, attrition, and reporting bias of each study and allows judgement as high, low, or unclear risk. The overall quality based on the risk of bias assessment was converted to AHRQ (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality) standards and was judged as good, fair, or poor [ 32]. A study was considered to have low risk of bias and good quality if all criteria were met, thus having a low risk of bias for each domain. Fair quality was assumed if one criterion was not met or two criteria were unclear, but only if this was unlikely to have biased the outcome, and if there was no important limitation that could invalidate the results. A study was considered to have high risk of bias and poor quality if two or more criteria were not met or were unclear and if this was likely to have biased the outcome or if there were important limitations that could invalidate the results. Meta-analyses (research that combines and analyzes results of multiple studies) generally suggest that the omega-3s are effective, but the findings are not unanimous because of variability between doses, ratios of EPA to DHA, and other study design issues. The most effective preparations appear to have at least 60% EPA relative to DHA. While DHA is thought to be less effective as an antidepressant, it may have protective effects against suicide. Recent work at Massachusetts General Hospital and Emory University suggests that depressed individuals who are overweight and have elevated inflammatory activity may be particularly good candidates for EPA treatment. UnoCardio X2 is an omega-3, pure fish oil supplement. Renowned for its exceptional purity and impactful dosages of EPA and DHA, it contains the key essential fatty acids your body needs in every capsule. What makes ours pure fish oil different, and why are they the best omega-3 supplements in the UK?HIGHLY CONCENTRATED FISH OILS such as UnoCardio®, on the other hand, are extremely rare and contain 90% to 95% Omega-3. These fish oils are not made as ethyl esters but in a better, more bio-available form, r-triglyceride (rTG). These oils supply the greatest amount of EPA and DHA per softgel and are of the highest purity available. Sass L, et al. (2021). You could add krill oil to your daily diet on account of the phospholipids, but you would have to take too many capsules to achieve a daily dose of 500 to 1000 mg EPA and DHA. Many consumers are consequently disappointed by the results of their Omega-3 index analysis. The Omega-3 index analysis report for people who use krill oil shows a low EPA+DHA content, even though they consumed 3 to 5 krill oil capsules per day. All omega-3s are anti-inflammatory and may have a positive effect on many conditions thought to be related to chronic inflammation — particularly heart disease. EPA and DHA may also help lower high triglyceride levels, a risk factor for heart disease.Duration of intervention (<12 vs. ≥ 12 months), presence of comorbidity (no, yes, both), severity of depression (no/mild to moderate, major, any severity of depression), and dosage of EPA (≥1000 mg/day vs. <1000 mg/day) were prespecified as characteristics for assessment of heterogeneity and were evaluated using subgroups to investigate possible effects due to these differences. In studies with multiple treatment groups with different EPA dosages, the treatment groups were included independently only for subgroup analysis by EPA dosage. For analysis, the same comparator was used for all treatment groups and the N from comparison groups was split as equally as possible across the treatment groups.

The consumption of oxidized fatty acids has been shown to contribute to negative health outcomes—such as free radical formation and increased susceptibility to oxidative damage to tissues. Thus, selecting a high-quality, third party tested fish oil to help ensure the freshness and safety of fish oil is widely encouraged. 26 Kurita A, Takashima H, Ando H, Kumagai S, Waseda K, Gosho M, Amano T. More than 30 clinical trials have tested different omega-3 preparations in people with depression. Most studies have used omega-3s as add-on therapy for people who are taking prescription antidepressants with limited or no benefit. Fewer studies have examined omega-3 therapy alone. Clinical trials typically use EPA alone or a combination of EPA plus DHA, at doses from 0.5 to 1 gram per day to 6 to 10 grams per day. To give some perspective, 1 gram per day would correspond to eating three salmon meals per week. Whereas most concentrated fish oils on the market are in the form of ethyl ester, a synthetic fat, UnoCardio® formulas are produced in true r-triglyceride (rTG) form. Research has shown that the bioavailability, body's absorption rate of fatty acids, of the r-triglyceride form is of great significance – up to 70% greater than ethyl esters. Albert, C.
