About this deal

The House was built around 4 strong convictions: blending, a unique style, the Chardonnay grape variety and innovation. A perfect balance between freshness and finesse, the palate is full-bodied, complex and creamy, displaying great length on the finish. With another war looking likely Eugenie sold the company in 1939 to Mary-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt. Laurent-Perrier has been avant-garde in creating unique and elegant Champagne for nearly 200 years, making it one of the world's most esteemed Champagne Houses and also the largest family-owned brand. Sadly, de Nonancourt passed away in 2010 and Laurent-Perrier is now managed by his two daughters, Alexandra and Stéphanie alongside Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet and has become one of the region's largest producers, they are perhaps best known for Cuvée Rosé, the most recognised rosé champagne on the planet.

Grape varietals: a majority of Chardonnay, over 50% Pinot Noir, between 30% and 35% rounded out with Meunier, between 10% and 15% + Reserve wines between 15% and 30%* to ensure perfect consistency in style. His two daughters - Alexandra and Stéphanie - are involved in the business, helping to keep the inimitable Brut Rosé on the tip of people’s tongues, as well as the elegant Chardonnay-dominated ‘Brut L-P’.This wine comes from the purest grape juice and it alone allows Laurent‑Perrier to craft « La Cuvée », a champagne of great finesse and a beautiful freshness obtained after a long ageing process in our cellars. With his personal qualities of leadership, innovation, acumen, he transformed the atrophying business into the largest Champagne house in France which is still largely family owned. Created in 1812, the success reached its zenith in the ’50s, thanks to Bernard de Nonancourt, one of the greatest individuals in modern Champagne. Sappy and broad in the mouth, offering intense red fruit and bitter citrus flavors underscored by chalky mineral and white pepper notes.

This Champagne is famous for a highly expressive bouquet that stems from the very careful preservation of the grape's naturally fresh red fruit aromas.Today on The Friday Bubble with Essi Avellan MW and Nick Baker ; Laurent-Perrier Grand Siecle Iteration No 26 MV. Not my personal favourite style but it's certainly true to the ordained style and a lot of care goes into making it. We met with Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet to visit Laurent-Perrier's renovated cellars and conduct a vertical tasting of Brut Vintage and Grand Siècle (all from magnum) alongside Jancis Robinson MW. All those tiny bubbles trapped in a redcurrant and apple-flavoured alcoholic concoction so delicious, creamy and light, it's a wonder they want to escape. A greater proportion of Chardonnay grape is used in La Cuvee, almost twice that commonly found in other champagne, giving the expression greater freshness and elegance. Based in the heart of the Champagne region in Tours-sur-Marne, Laurent-Perrier has a pedigree for innovation, handcrafting elegant Champagnes using traditional, time-honoured methods. La Cuvée is Laurent-Perrier’s signature champagne, defining the House style with its characteristic lightness, freshness and elegance. Maceration, Vinification and Blending Grape varietal: For blending, only the musts of the cuvée are used, so only 80% of the grape juice is extracted from pressing. Although originally founded in 1812, the name Champagne Laurent-Perrier was not conceived until 1964. Revel in the beauty of its 16th century-style bottle, serve at 8-10°C as an exquisite aperitif and pair with charcuterie, poultry or red fruit desserts.

We tasted some rich and generous vins clairs with Chef de Cave Michel Fauconnet and sampled previews of upcoming Vintage 2008 and future Grand Siècle NV. It's not going to keep quiet as you enjoy your Valentine's dinner but may do a certain amount of interrupting. I love how, with time, it starts to show a wilder side of itself, with lovely dark, spicy tones and sous-bois undernotes. Laurent-Perrier was the first House to offer the successive breakthrough Cuvées of Grand Siècle , Cuvée Rosé , Ultra Brut and Alexandra Rosé Millesimé.

Laurent-Perrier Champagne is based on the art of blending: the blending of grape varieties, the blending of Crus and the blending of years. He (re)created the style of Laurent Perrier: independent spirit, creativity, audacity with always more Chardonnay in the blendings. the wine then spends an extra year in the cellar, ageing for a total of four years on the lees before release.
